Regal Oud: The Scent of a Grand Candlelit Room

Oud is the most storied ingredient in perfumery.

It comes from the heartwood of the Aquilaria tree — specifically from wood that has been infected by a particular mould, which triggers the tree to produce a dark, resinous oil in response. The process takes decades. The result is one of the rarest and most complex aromatic materials in the world.

Oud has been traded along the same routes that connected Istanbul to the Persian Gulf, to the Indian subcontinent, to the ancient spice markets of Arabia, for over a thousand years. It is not a modern ingredient. It is a material with a history.

Regal Oud was built around that history.

The Scent

Regal Oud opens with spice — pink pepper, chamomile, and cardamom arriving with warmth and a quiet authority. The opening is not loud. It announces itself the way a very well-dressed person enters a room: with presence, not noise.

The heart deepens into galbanum, jasmine, and oakmoss — adding a green, slightly earthy complexity that prevents the spice from becoming merely decorative. This is where Regal Oud reveals its character: rich but not heavy, layered but not confused.

The base is the destination. Orris, cashmere, and musk create a skin-like warmth. Oud and labdanum add depth, resin, and extraordinary longevity. This is a fragrance that stays — on fabric, in a room, on skin — for hours after first contact.

The Istanbul Connection

Istanbul sits at the centre of the oud trade's historic geography. The Ottoman Empire's spice routes connected the city directly to the oud-producing regions of Southeast Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. Oud was burned in Ottoman palaces, used in religious ceremonies, traded in the Grand Bazaar. Its presence in Istanbul's aromatic history is not decorative — it is foundational.

Regal Oud is our acknowledgement of that heritage.

How to Build a Regal Oud Ritual

  • For the home: The Reed Diffuser and Candle together create the full Regal Oud atmosphere — ambient depth from the diffuser, and a deeper, more enveloping quality when the candle is lit for evenings.
  • For the body: The Lotion and EDC combination is remarkable on warm skin — the cashmere and oud base means the fragrance lasts for hours without reapplication.
  • For gifting: Regal Oud is our luxury statement gift. The Candle alone is impressive. The Reed Diffuser paired with the Lotion and EDC is the ultimate Regal Oud gift — home and body, morning to night.

Who Regal Oud Is For

The customer who wants their home to feel like somewhere extraordinary. The fragrance collector looking for a credible oud that isn't merely following a trend. The gift buyer who wants to give something genuinely opulent and long-lasting.

Regal Oud does not suit every room and it is not meant to. It is a fragrance for people who know what they want — and who want the best of it.
